The Trees by Franz Kafka
"For we are like tree trunks in the snow. In appearance they lie sleekly and a little push should be enough to set them rolling. No, it can't be done, for they are firmly wedded to the ground. But see, even that is only appearance."I love Kafka. However, I suspect that my reasons for enjoying his works differ greatly from the rest of his readers. I've actually disagreed with other Kafka-lovers in terms of interpretation and other matters. Then again, isn't that part of his genius? All the interpretation and confusion, I mean.... In any case, no matter what his works mean to me or to others, once you've read his work, you're bound to have an opinion of him. It doesn't even have to be positive. You just end up reacting....
