Graduation and Related Events

I attended my law school graduation 2 days ago. Well, it didn't go as smoothly as it could have gone, but, hey, it's over. There's nothing else I can do about it.
In any case, that's not the point. I got all senti and shit because of grad. I dunno... Graduations always make me feel a bit sad. Wala lang... "The end of an era" type of crap...
Anyway, it got me thinking. I've only been to 4 schools in my entire life. I went to OB and DML for preschool (yes, 2 schools, for three years of my early life); ICA for kinder all the way till high school (13 years); and UPD for Polsci and Law (8 years). I guess it's hard to finally acknowledge that I'm finally done with studying. That is, unless, by some miracle, I decide to take an LLM or MBA, which isn't really an option right now.
I've been a student for 23 out the 25 years of my life. (Actually, because of the stupid Bar Exams, I'm actually still in school for review and all that.) I mean, I'm excited about taking a new path and finally making my own money, but I know for a fact that I'll really miss the lifestyle that I've had. Everything just feels more serious.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think I'm the type of person anyone would call immature. I know for a fact that I'm not like that. I guess I know that I like being laid-back and I really don't know if there's such a thing as a laid-back lawyer. You know what I mean?

Having said all that, I've also come to the realization that I spent so much time in the last 2 schools that I studied, that a part of who I am and what I'm like today, has to do with the friends I've made and the things I've learned (mostly outside the classroom) in these 2 institutions. Ang weird...
Now that I think about it, I guess I turned into a true-blue ICAn and die-hard UP Maroon, without really meaning to. I find this so "weird" because I've managed to become proud of where I come from, despite the fact that I also spent a lot of time complaining about and criticizing these schools. Hehe... The more you hate, the more you love...

Lastly, graduating made me realize that I'm a bit too old to hide stuff from my parents. I finally told them that I got a tattoo 8 years ago (summer of 1997, a little before I turned 18)! I can't even imagine why I thought it would be a big deal.
Hmm... Scrap that last thought... It would have been a big deal if I had told them about it right after I got it.

Hehe....
